Cardiology research at MUHC
The cardiology division in collaboration with the Cardiovascular Health Across the Lifespan (CHAL) research program have been at the forefront of the advancement of knowledge in cardiac disease for the last 3 decades.
Leading contributions have been in our three main themes:
-
Vascular health
-
Cardiac health
-
Complex heart health
The major goal of the Cardiovascular Health Across the Lifespan (CHAL) program is to produce new knowledge in order to improve the health of Canadians with multisystem cardiovascular conditions across the lifespan. National and international health information and research networks have enabled knowledge translation (KT) from basic to clinical to outcomes research resulting in significant impact on the policy and quality of cardiovascular care delivery nationally and internationally. In line with national research priorities we are generating translational, patient-centred, policy-relevant, cardiology research output. We build on well-characterized institutional priorities at the provincial level, accessing strong national and international collaborators to pursue a high-impact research program deployed through robust knowledge translation networks.
With a balanced distribution of researchers over three methodological platforms, our expertise is anchored in the Centre for Translation Biology for basic science, the Centre for Innovative Medicine for clinical science and innovation and the Centre for Outcomes Research for health services and population health research. Heavily invested in applied knowledge translation leading to policy change, our goal is to improve quality of care through data sharing within provincial, national and international health information networks.
