2018 TransCatheter Therapeutics (TCT) meeting
On the event of the 30th anniversary of the prestigious Trans Catheter Therapeutics (TCT) meeting of the Cardiovascular Research Foundation (CRF), the Interventional Cardiology Division of the McGill University Health Centre (MUHC) has been invited for the second time in three years to broadcast live demonstrations from Montreal directly to San Diego, California.
At 2 PM on Sunday September 23, Dr. Nicolo Piazza and Dr. Giuseppe Martucci, co-Directors of the MUHC Structural Heart Program, will be performing a trans catheter aortic valve intervention (TAVI) and will teach their methods using advanced multi-modal imaging, which has put our institution on the front line of this therapy.
At 5 PM, Dr. Stéphane Rinfret, Director of the MUHC Catheterization Laboratory and Dr. Sonny Dandona, Director of the Coronary Care Unit will be performing a complex retrograde recanalization of a chronic total occlusion (CTO) using a bilateral trans radial approach, an innovative approach increasingly performed around the world due to Dr Rinfret’s leadership.
The MUHC will be one of only two Canadian sites (with St-Paul’s Hospital, Vancouver) to perform cases. Other centres from the US and around the world will contribute to this famous event. Our institution has been selected for his world-renowned leadership in Trans catheter Aortic Valve Intervention (TAVI) and advanced and complex PCI for chronic total occlusions. Only a few centres around the world can provide state-of-the-art teaching and demonstration for both areas of interventional cardiology.
